__About Me__

I am currently enrolled in SFU Surrey as ID (interactive design) student. I'm in process of figuring out my life and what I am going to do for my future. I have a goal as a person to appreciate others and respect other as they respect you. I enjoy most of sports but my favorite has to be Rugby and Basketball (other than kendo). I stopped playing rugby when I was in 11th grade but wanted to tryout for university team (family urged me not to participate). I regularly practice basketball. I enjoy all the sports that I can do. What I learned from the past, would like to apply into my kendo knowledge.

__Kendo__

When I was in Korea, I was introduced to Kumdo (Korean Kendo). I knew about it since I was a kid but never had the courage to participate. As a kid I was very shy and did not participate, in other words, I was a LONER. HAHA~~ Anyhow, after 11 year in Canada, I built some courage to participate at a local Kumdo place (where I met Danny and Paul). I practiced for 7-8 months and developed my initial skills. I was told the initiation phase of Kumdo but I was unable to gain the foundation. As I went to the same school as Rei, she introduced Kendo in our spare time. Due to my interest, I went to visit Matsukai (I was still bit shy). I do not know the exact date but I was able to gather more insight to swordsmanship with continued yearly participation. Although I did not practiced Kumdo as much, I was drawn more into Kendo because it moral that it stood by. Through Kendo, I have gotten to know better about myself and connect with my body and soul. As a person, I gained more respect to myself and for others. At this moment in time, I feel unsure of my strength as kendo student and my weakness. I have gotten little too far into sports kendo rather than the ki, ken, tai of kendo. My skills may develop over time but my respect to kendo may decrease if I do not face my weakness.

"Woojin, you've brought much to the dojo. Seen as a big brother to all of us, your careful thoughts and supportive attitude have encouraged many of us to talk to you when we need to. Thanks." -Rei

"Woojin! You are definitely our big brother by any definition...well except the literal one maybe ^^; You've had so many tough times in your life but you've overcome them all with wisdom and with grace. Thank you for being always so supportive and so friendly =)" - Amelia

"You're truly efficient Woojin. I'm always at awe with your efficiency, talent, skill, and knowledge in many of the overlooked aspects of life (like how to compact everything into a tiny square)...and sorry if I make you sound like a machine . You're a really funny man and like those two up there say, you are the big brother in our dojo (no pressure). Sorry if we bug you so much, but that's how much younger siblings show their affections...at least I hope that's how it all works...meh. Your kendo is amiable and I hope to learn a lot from you in both kendo and social life! (ho ho ho) Thanks for always being there for all of us :) It is most appreciated~" -Justine
