Jenn's Journal

I really wish I went to kendo today, but I had Honour Jazz Band practice until 8pm today. I felt as if I wasted my time since I got home. I haven't even finished doing my calculus notes yet.

Since this is a kendo journal and not a jazz journal, I'll start updating my progress in kendo

I'm enjoying it so much more than before. I don't know why. I've been looking forward to keiko every Tuesday now. I'd actually use up the whole time during free practice. Before, it would be a break time cuz I wasn't too keen in keiko. Maybe it's because I joined x-country, which taught me to push myself to the max (those 60 minutes of hell is a lifetime of happiness). There were many times I wanted to walk, but I keep telling myself "just keep running. I don't care if you're last. Don't stop", and let me tell you, I was last many times, but I never stopped. I also made it a habit to keiko with sensei for each practice. This really increased the tempo in my skill. I hope we get to use the dojo on Thursdays soon.

I better get back to hw now... weep

Mwahahaha. I finally understand more about keiko, and I'm proud. Rei taught me a long time ago, but it never sunk into my head until last practice. Everytime sensei moved his shinai to the right, "KOTE." If he's loose and moves it slightly to the left, "MEN." I'm so proud because my reactions are faster. Before, I believe it took me three seconds before I reacted to his motions.

I'm still bad at keiko though.

My next goal is to practice kirikayashi.

1. be more loose - don't be stiff

2. big cuts

3. left hand stays in center

Today is the day I'll be taking my written kendo exam. I'm quite worried, and I fear that I might fail. Sensei said that if we fail the written, we can't participate in the grading. *worry worry worry* well, I'm mentally worried. Physically, I feel alright.

Better get my HB pencil ready!

Kendo's awesome, kendo ppl are awesome, keiko is fun! The visit to Central dojo on Tuesday was great. I wish i keiko more though. But wow. Kendokas are so friendly! They smile, they're sooo nice and friendly, and fast too! Crazily fast and good.

Back from the children's gasshuku and I'm really sore =/ But overall, it was great! [and yes, I got beaten by little kids...] Had my first tournament (shiai) and it was pretty fun.

Met quite a bit of new people, especially those from Renbu. They're actually really cool, not evil at all. yea, use to believe they all emit this evil aura around them. Probably because of their red zekken and their strict senseis. In actual reality, they're all crazy.

Of course, i have other pics, but no time to load them...

On the second day, my knee began to get worked up and it was hard for me to do kendo. By the third day, it was getting worse, and I didn't want to miss out on the tournament, so I told one of the senseis. He told another sensei (who unfortunately, was from Renbu and you'll find out why later). He told me to sit out cause of my injury, so I did. Later, he yelled at me and said I was in the way, so I moved closer to the corner.

"You're still in the way! Move to the other corner next to the tire!" ....Ouch...

"Other side of the tire!" ...Stupid knee....

Then, the first sensei I talked to told me to take off my men, which resulted in the Renbu sensei to later glare at me and say "I didn't tell you to take off your men, did I?"

But, I told him that the other sensei told me to, so he let it go. I asked Sean (later became known as Shawna due to his hot sex change) how were his senseis in the dojo. He said they were pretty tough, but cool. Don't wanna go into detail. But according to Rei and Amelia, in a way, they were jerks.

Afterwards, he called forth the people who redid their men or do that day. They had to do 100 haya suburi. I was suppose to be with them cause I had to retie my men that day as well, but I was too busy sitting in the corner next to the tire... But at the end of class after everyone had left, I did 150 with Amelia, who did 200 (she felt bad for misunderstanding the teacher, so she doubled hers), and justine did a little over 100 as well. I wish I did more for sitting out half the class though.

Yes, can't forget about this one guy named Yuki whom our little Amelia is quite "fond" of *hint hint wink wink nudge nudge*

Quite the charmer isn't he?

jk, he's actually pretty cool. I'd describe him, but I'll let Amelia do that =)

To be continued...?

August 12, 2006

For the past month, I was slowly losing interest in kendo and merely felt obligated to come rather than coming for the love for kendo. But the last 2 practices raised my hopes again =) And I'm glad. Now I'm excited to come to practices again.

Need to keiko more to improve... and stop doing tsukis until i can do it properly. Sorry Woojin... ^^''

Can't wait to see the hachidans kendo tomorrow :)

Only a few of you would know the true story behind this comic =)

July 2, 2006

Technically, in my biological time clock, it would still be July 1 (HAPPY CANADA DAY) but the atomic clock is what truly determines the date...

Anyway, plenty has happened, too much to type out in fact. So, i won't =)

What's on my mind right now? mnn, plenty of things. But i'm kind of tired, since it is 2:44am. Gonna go to bed now.

Sweet dreams everyone.

Hohoho, I updated my roster Amelia.

I'm happy

Ur happy

We're all happy.

But now, you're probably going whack me cause my journal sucks, so now I have to update my journal, don't I?

Okay, I shall.

Problem is, I'm bloody tired cause it's 1:13am and Rei, Amelia, and Alan are still here. Alan and Justine have provincials in a few hours, so they're studying as much as they can.

Okay, back to my jounal

Jenn's Journal

Meditation: It only lasted for 25 minutes, but it felt like an hour. I believe I was about to fall asleep. Well, I was highly tempted to lie down on the pillow and sleep. Sleep....sleep...sleep. Then, my mind started dozing, but whenever I begin the counting again, my head starts to fall, then I'll snap it back up again. Gawd, I was so irritated. I wanted to fidget so bad as well.

Iaido: Need more spirit and realism, but then again, I just started yesterday. I called up Debbie beforehand to come to Iai and I didn't quite leave her with much of a choice =)

Lunch: wheeeeeeeeeeeeee =) food! I got hungry during iaido. We decided not to wait for Justine and Rei cause they were taking too long, and a good thing we didn't cause they never came.

Hike: Pretty short, but fun =) I went with Sensei, Amy-san, and Debbie. Another problem with Rei not being there was that she had my clothes... So I had to borrow Amy-san's pants, Sensei's SFU t-shirt, Debbie's mismatch socks, and Shirley-san's shoes... Later, we walked across the river and it was brutal. Every step was painful. Then we came home and guess who we saw? =D Rei. It turned out she was *cough* "cuddling" with justine, then they fell asleep. bleh

Dinner: Wheee! More food! Amy-san's an awesome cook

Dessert: Oh gawd, delicious. Toasted cake that melts-in-your-mouth with sorbet icecream and sliced peaches

Kendo: Fun as usual =) But today, there were many, many guests watching. It reminded me of the time when I first came with Debbie, Diana, and Justine because we started out as a large group witth Amelia, Tyler, Kris, and Aaron. I was wondering if this can be a new era like what happend with us, where 6/8 of us remained in the dojo.

Done.

Sleep time.

Wakakaakakakakaa

It is now 1:39 am and I'm not sure if I can go to iaido tomorrow ><
